Detailed story about DaVinci development:
DaVinci development started back in April 2000 by the founders Lars Pedersen and Ole Lykke Jensen and has always been based in London.
Originally named the company 3D Wizards, but when people heard the name, they thought that the company programmed computer. Therefore, the company name changed to DaVinci development back in November 2001. In October 2005, reorganized the company into a limited company.
Focus on product development and software
DaVinci Development's focus was initially on product development , primarily of plastic items in the programs Unigraphics, IDEAS and Imageware. These 3 software are all now an integral part of the 3D program, Siemens NX.
Later purchased licenses for Pro / Engineer, Catia, Inventor and Solid Works so that DaVinci today has all the 5 major 3D CAD programs. Additionally, DaVinci FEA program ANSYS and plastic flow simulation tool Moldflow.
DaVinci grows exponentially in staff
In April 2002 hired the first designer (besides the two owners) and five months later hired a designer more as task volume grows. Number of employees is growing steadily over the next few years where there are employed many different profiles, ranging from tool designers, mechanical engineers, design engineers, civil engineers, product developers, sales and office assistants and media people.
In recent years, it takes real speed and DaVinci development is mid-2011 up to 31 employees with offices in three locations: London, Sønderborg and Skovlunde at Copenhagen.
Prototype machines will DaVinci
In April 2002 we purchase our first prototype machine, Pattern Master, which produces very accurate prototypes, down to 0.013 mm in thickness.
In December 2003 will be the next prototype machine purchased a Viper SLA, and DaVinci development becomes the first prototype supplier in Europe to produce SLA topics in a unique quality and detail and with a thickness down to 0.025 mm.
Half a year later purchased a Objet Eden 260 machine that produces items using Polyjet 3D printing technology. This is a much faster process than the SLA. With a thickness down to 0.016 mm, the detail actually really nice, but not quite as good as we can offer our Viper SLA.
In August 2005, comes DaVinci development to an even more prototype machines with a very stable SLS HQ HS machine that triggers rapid manufacturing . SLS is quite strong themes and as they are also relatively inexpensive used in several cases for field testing and small batch production and production in large series of products with high complexity (also by products to end customer).
In February 2007 buy DaVinci development as the first in Scandinavia have a breakthrough machine, an Objet Connex 500 can produce two-component items. This is another proof that the DaVinci is a leader in rapid prototyping . Since then several machines, including a new Viper SLA machine for our Skovlunde department, and later a Projet CPX 3000 plus for the production of wax threads that are used for højpræsitionsstøbning metal items. Today, DaVinci, with 9 RPT machines and 5 different technologies, the leading and largest supplier of prototypes.
Media attention
In March 2003, the two holders into P1 studio and have a longer conversation about the use of 3D applications in product development.
The local papers and media have also begun to talk about DaVinci development, the small development company that is growing steadily.
Animation becomes a part of the competence area
In May 2003 DaVinci development decides to start a visualization and animation department up and therefore employ a multimedia animator. Then offer our customers renderings and animations to include user's guide, business presentation, interactive assembly instructions, safety instructions, product visualization and much more for our customers.
Extension of DaVinci development
In January 2008, expands the DaVinci development for the first time with a new development in Sønderborg, with very nice rooms in the Science Park Alsion. In March 2011 DaVinci expands again, this time with a development and prototype department in Skovlunde at Copenhagen. This big step for DaVinci is done to get closer to our customers Zealand.
The future of DaVinci development
The future looks very promising, client portfolio is growing all the time, technology is constantly being updated with new machines and domiciled in London is already filled with people.
The plans are big, wait abroad, and to be implemented several technological gap jump ahead.
