CASE: Maersk Qatar
DaVinci has produced a model of an oil rig in Qatar Strait for Maersk.
It was for the entire 3 identical scale models - made with equal parts of new technology in the form of 3D CAD + RPT from DaVinci and traditional model of work. Scale model is a copy of Maersk's installations down in Qatar, with 9 major platforms and 2 large oil tankers, ships, helicopters, etc.
Size The ratio is 1:750
Process relevant for the udstillinsgmodellen
After the agreement with Maersk was in place, were dispensed 2D drawings of the production platforms, drilling rigs, ships, etc. with real goals, so an overview can be created.

All major objectives were scaled down so the bottom plate could be made in the right size. Entire model turns 3 x 1.5 meters.
Since the structure of the whole platform was in place, it was time for all the little details. The scaling of such large items can not simply be divided by 750, and then manufactured. There must examine the relationship between strength, size, and the visuals. A railing on the platform is perhaps 10 cm, and scaled it down to 0.13 mm, it can hardly be seen, not withstand the impacts and will hardly be produced. There you go then in and make an adjustment so that exhibit specimen appears nicer, but also strengthen the correct way.
Mass production of parts using rapid prototyping

In the past, was to manually and fabricated all small items, which could take days, depending on detail and size.
DaVinci has added Rapid Prototyping technology, making the process faster at high number of pieces, and even higher degree of detail.
There must still be made a lot of handwork, which still takes place under the microscope, tweezers, glue and a steady hand.
Qatar scaling model has been an interplay between technology and traditional craftsmanship, resulting in 3 very beautiful models.
